Polk County is a scenic wonderland full of history, charm, arts and outdoor activities.
Come and visit the St. Croix River in Polk County where you can swim, fish, rock climb along the banks, canoe, kayak, and take a paddlewheel excursion cruise. Polk Country has many trails, including the 98-mile Gandy Dancer rail trail, the beginning of the 1,000-mile Ice Age Trail and a dozen more single and multi-use trails.

Two ski hills, Trollhaugen in Dresser, and Wild Mountain, offer fantastic ski and snowboard facilities. Wild Mountain is known for summer time fun for the whole family! Equipped with a waterpark, go-karts and alpine slide. Take a boat tour in Taylors Falls on the excursion boats Taylors Falls Queen and the Taylors Falls Princess.
The area's history is well preserved and comes alive in Polk County's many museums and historical sites. Visit the Clear Lake Area Museum, the Polk County Museum, Rural Life Museum in Balsam Lake, and the Soo Line Depot in Frederic.
Other Polk County area attractions include Fawn-Doe Rosa Wildlife Education Park, Ice Age Interpretive Center and the State Fish Hatchery, all located in St. Croix Falls.
Polk County is home of three fine arts organizations, including the St. Croix ArtBarn, St. Croix Festival Theatre Company, and the Northern Lakes Center for the Arts in Amery.
