The antique dolls and toys are from the collection of Delores Safe from Red Wing, Minn., and are being brought to Pioneer Village by her daughter, Dee Safe. Dee has become a frequent volunteer at the museum and shares her mother’s interest in antiques. She designs memory pieces from family jewelry. Delores collected the dolls over a forty-year period and designed all the doll dresses which are made out of antique lace and other old materials. This will be the first time for them to be on exhibit for the public.ÂÂ
The display will include over 30 dolls. A special feature will be four antique dolls sitting around a table drinking tea with another doll ironing and one lounging in an old wicker chaise lounge. The collection includes German and French antique dolls, including some made by doll manufacturers, Simon & Halbig and Kämmer & Reinhardt. Dee will also be displaying pictures of children in antique frames, some Steiff teddy bears, and a Steiff circus train set.
Pioneer Village is located 1 ½ miles west of Cameron on County Highway W. ÂÂ
