Barron County’s Pioneer Village Museum will be featuring a special quilt display and show by quilter, Carol Streif, in the Cultural Arts Building on July 23 & 24 from 1-5 pm. The display will include both vintage and newly constructed quilts. Carol will be giving short demonstrations periodically throughout the day and she will have available a simple, inexpensive project for visitors to make using an authentic hand crank sewing machine.
Carol’s quilts have been top prizes in the Barron County Historical Society’s annual raffle for several years. She has donated a king size Wedding Band quilt for this year’s raffle. Tickets are available in the museum’s gift shop and from members of the Society. She will also have available a few quilt related gift items for sale at her display.
Other prizes for the 2011 raffle include a 2012 pass to the Red Barn Theatre, an infant quilt, two woven scatter rugs, and a large Wind Song doily. The drawing will be held Sunday, September 4, at 4:00 pm. ÂÂ
Pioneer Village is located 1 ½ miles west of Cameron on County Highway W and is open to the public Thursday through Sunday from 1-5 pm with extended hours for some special events. The full schedule and other information is available on the web at www.barroncountymuseum.com. Contact the museum at 715-642-1327 or 715-458-2080 with any questions.
