The Streets of Old Milwaukee (24:54) The essence of urban life in Milwaukee around the turn-of-the-century is recreated from roughly the 1880s to just prior to World War I. In the exhibit gallery, buildings are represented at about three-quarters size or less. The streets are constructed from three different styles of paving: granite blocks originally from Buffalo Street, red bricks, and cedar blocks. Sidewalks made from wood planks complete the effect. The Streets of Old Milwaukee is one of the most popular galleries at the Milwaukee Public Museum.
