Midddle schools in Oklahoma City may see longer days

Springer told Oklahoma City School Board members during their meeting Monday he’d like to provide an extended school day in the district’s middle schools. The idea came after Springer, Tulsa Superintendent Keith Ballard and Sandy Garrett, state schools superintendent, visited last week Boston schools with extended days."The longer we can have children with us and be on task, the more they’re going to learn,” Springer said. "It could change the face of our district.”
That extra time has helped turn those urban schools in Boston around, Springer said, and he thinks that policy could help Oklahoma City middle school students and prepare them better for high school.
